Pam Truax ~ It has been quoted about music that it expresses that which cannot be said and what is impossible to keep silent.   And so it is at Divine Redeemer Lutheran School.   It is a well-known fact that one of this school’s strengths is its ability to offer fine art experiences for its students.  For example, the 3rd & 4th graders and the 7th & 8th graders each year present their musicals, students in grades 5th – 8th have band opportunities, Kindergarteners through 8th graders comprise various choirs and even the littlest preschoolers enjoy presenting their own christmas & graduation programs with song!  You just can’t keep the children from showing their faith through music!  These opportunities are made possible because of the dedication and commitment of teachers, like DR’s choir/music teacher- Mrs. Pam Truax.

Mrs. Truax has always loved music and children, and for years has directed Sunday School music programs and musicals.  After attending Augsburg College in Minneapolis and graduating from Alverno College in Milwaukee, Mrs. Truax was an organist & choir director for thirteen years, taught at a Montessori school for 10 years and is now completing more than 30 years of teaching piano!  She has also started a "Music for Little Mozarts" class at Divine Redeemer.  This special music program brings music alive in a hands-on, dynamic way to 3 & 4 year olds.   She sings in her church choir, supports her church’s women’s events, participates in Bible study and a book club.  She enjoys being  at Divine Redeemer Lutheran School and has a lot of fun memories teaching the students.  In fact, she recalls a time when teaching 1st graders about “music families” and a few class periods later, she asked the class if anyone remembered what they had learned.  The students eagerly raised their hands and one student responded “the grass family” (brass) and another, “the concussion family” (percussion).  Mrs. Truax, and husband Jim, also enjoy spending time with their adult children, Liz and Bryan, Katie, Matt, and Andy.
